My name is Jackson Paul and I was born on the 17th August, 1993. My Mummy and Daddy died in a car accident when I was three months old. I was taken to hospital and I stayed there for six months. I came home just after my middle brother Davidís 4th birthday party at McDonalds.
That was the day they took the tube out of my nose and started feeding me through the mouth. I like this because food is one of my favourite things. They still mash everything and give me thick milk and liquid stuff. I like to drink yoghurt, custard, and runny jellies. Can you imagine having somebody help you lift your spoon and decide when you will eat? I can and when this happens and it's good food I swallow, and when it's not I spit it out and yell!
My school is the Alice Betteridge school for kids who are blind and differently abled. Itís cool to be different and my new Mum makes sure I do interesting stuff.
Here are some things that I like:
My big brothers Matthew is 5 years older than me and David is 3 years older than me, and when they sleep over we have a rumble.
My Poppy Stephens.
Samantha - my beautiful "Pets as Therapy" dog from the Guide Dog Association.
People getting into trouble.
Having my turn all the time.
My daily swim when I float alone.
Sleeping with my new Mum who is my Mumís Mum.
My home Kurrumin.
Listening to the waves.
Not listening to big people. Itís better to listen to other sounds!
Going in the car anywhere.
Music Ė starting to get a bit big for nursery rhymes! Ė I like classical best.
Wondering what crazy things will happen when people forget to tell me whatís what.
Time on my own to think kidsí stuff.
I might be in a wheelchair but I go to Joey cubs, sailing, swimming and sit snow ski. Itís cool to have a doctor Ė Iíve got lots. The doctors think about medicine a lot because Iím epileptic. You see I got a bang on my head when I was in the car accident, they call me brain-injured. I still have to learn to sit up but I have a walker and Iíll give anyone a race. Try running with your eyes shut Ė thatís me! Talking is fun when I do it, but I donít waste words. Usually when I shout I get what I want. Why donít you try it on your parents and family??? I can make things happen and make everybody race everywhere, simply by yelling at the top of my lungs "Ahhhhhhhh!!!"
People keep telling me what to do. Sometimes I wish theyíd just shut up. So instead of running away I just shut my eyes, drop my head and squeak. Of course being a kid I get a bit sick of them fussy grown-ups. They're always talking silly grown-up's talk, it's sooo boring. I wonder if Iíll grow into a fussy grown-up?
My Mum and Dad were pretty good looking and my two big brothers, Matthew and David, are nearly as good looking as me. The sad part of my life is my brothers pig out on lollies, chips, Maccas and junk food and my mother gives me nothing.Öany ideas? Matthew made it to the semifinals in soccer and David is an artist and we laugh at lots of funny things together.
You wanna see my art?
Send me yours Ė my brothers and I canít wait to see it!
I went to Disneyland with my Mum and friends in April 2001. I had lots of fun.
Wow, look at me on Splash Mountain, Disneyland
I am not a scaredy cat. Are you a scaredy cat? I think that I am really lucky that at age seven to have been to Disneyland. In August this year I am going sit-skiing in the snow country of my state in Australia. We have a little bit of snow. Most of the places here are pretty hot but I think skiing is cool.
My mate Simon, with his head cut off, takes me skiing at Thredbo. I love my sit-ski. We do the double black trails. Can you imagine doing that with your eyes shut? Yep, it's awesome!
Pat Rafter meets us at Mascot Airport Sydney when I went on a Qantas Jumbo Jet with my friends. He really cares for special kids like me.
